Bed Bugs

Boxelder Bugs

Bed Bugs

Bed Bugs are round insects that like to burro into mattresses and other common household furnishings. They create nests inside these warm and dark places, and they usually only appear during the late night hours. These bugs are parasites, and they often look for exposed skin to bite. They may feed off of the blood of a sleeping person without being detected.

Bees

Boxelder Bugs

Bed Bugs

Bees are small insects with stingers. Bee stings may cause a severe allergic reaction in some people. They are easily identified by their black and orange stripes, and their small black heads are fuzzy. Some bees are an important part of the flower pollination process, so it is important to determine the proper time and method for eliminating bees from the property.

Boxelder Bugs

Boxelder Bugs

Carpenter Ants

Boxelder bugs do not nest indoors year-round. Rather, they make their homes in box elder, maple and ash trees during warmer seasons and migrate into buildings and homes to find shelter for the winter. They enter through small cracks and crevices within the building, and remain inside, hibernating, through fall and winter. They emerge when heat sources within the building are high and can be located in the warmest areas of a structure’s walls.

Carpenter Ants

Carpenter Ants

Carpenter Ants

Ants are small insects that will invade your property in search of food. Some species will also form colonies within a structure by gnawing through building materials. Many ant species possess the ability to deliver a painful bite or sting that can cause redness and irritation. Some individuals may develop symptoms of an allergic reaction after a bite or sting. The large colony size means that ants are very difficult to eliminate because most of the pests are not visible.

Cockroaches

Carpenter Ants

Cockroaches

Cockroaches enter homes and businesses to find food and build nests. These insects reproduce rapidly, so killing one visible cockroach is not likely to affect a larger infestation. Roaches are capable of carrying pathogens that can affect people and pets. Some people may experience symptoms of an allergic reaction in response to feces and other debris generated by cockroaches.

Crickets

Carpenter Ants

Cockroaches

Crickets occur in varied habitats. Crickets are best known for the loud, persistent, chirping song of males trying to attract females, although some species are mute.

Fleas

Japanese Beetles

Japanese Beetles

Fleas are small wingless and about 2.5mm long. Their bodies are shiny and reddish brown in color, covered in microscopic hair, and are compressed to allow for easy movement through animal fur.

Japanese Beetles

Japanese Beetles

Japanese Beetles

The feeding habits of Japanese beetles are what make them such a nuisance. They are opportunistic feeders and have been documented to feed on over 300 types of plants and crops. They also like to feed in groups, which causes them to do damage to a wide area if the food source that attracts them is available. The beetles are most active on warm, sunny days, and prefer plants that are in direct sunlight. Adults feed on the leaves and flowers of the food source. This gives the leaf a “skeletonized” appearance. Adult Japanese beetles are very transient and can infest new areas from several miles away whether it is from wind shift or introduction or food source availability.

Mosquitoes

Japanese Beetles

Mosquitoes

Almost everyone has had the unpleasant experience of being bitten by a mosquito. Mosquito bites can cause skin irritation through an allergic reaction to the mosquito's saliva - this is what causes the red bump and itching. But a more serious consequence of some mosquito bites may be transmission of serious diseases and viruses such as malaria, dengue virus, Zika and West Nile virus, which can lead to disabling and potentially deadly effects (such as encephalitis, meningitis and microcephaly). Not only can mosquitoes carry diseases that afflict humans, but they also can transmit several diseases and parasites that dogs and horses are very susceptible to. Rodents

Silverfish

Mosquitoes

Rodents like roaches, invade buildings to forage and nest. Different rodent species engage in different behaviors, but all species are equipped with powerful teeth that can gnaw through important building materials and wiring. Most store bought products are not effective against rodent invaders, and these small mammals can reproduce rapidly. Rodents can transmit diseases, contaminate food, and transport dangerous parasites.

Silverfish

Silverfish

Silverfish are white to brown-grey or bluish-silver in color. They have a tail with three long bristles on the rear. Silverfish are capable of thriving in most climates, but prefer to dwell in dark, damp areas such as basements, attics, kitchens, bathrooms and homes with woodshake roofs. They are especially attracted to paper and damp clothing. Commonly found in stored boxes in garages and sheds.

Silverfish are known for their destructive feeding habits, oftentimes ruining papers, clothing and wallpaper. Homeowners often transport silverfish indoors unknowingly.

Spiders

Silverfish

Silverfish

Spiders can be interesting as well as a scary creatures. There are several types of them and they range in size and coloring. What may surprise you though is that generally the larger ones aren’t nearly as dangerous as some of the smaller ones. You can judge what a spider will do based on size and looks alone. Spiders generally move very slowly but they don’t have to worry too much about various predators. Most of them have a very powerful venom that they deliver and will paralyze predators. There are types of spiders with venom strong enough to make humans very ill or even cause death.

Voles

Voles may be small, but they are a force to be reckoned with. If these underground, fast-breeding varmints have ever invaded your lawn or garden, you know what we're talking about.

Voles may not be life-threatening and maybe no one has ever died from having them in their yard, but we're betting the problem is front and center for those of you have had their lawns destroyed by these covert invaders. It's an indisputable fact that voles have exceptional burrowing and tunneling abilities.

Wasps

and More!

Voles

Wasps although can be of use around the garden by consuming dead insects and eating flies, they can be a nuisance too. Apart from stinging, their persistence can be irritating and present a threat to those allergic to their sting. Seek medical help immediately if you are stung in the mount or neck, or if you experience nausea, unusual swelling or extreme pain following a sting.
